My name is Chandler Sells and I serve on staff with Campus Outreach in South Africa. I came to know the Lord personally while I was in university and the Lord grew a desire in my heart to continue investing in university students. I was so thankful for the women who not only clearly shared the gospel with me while I was in college, but took the time to truly process with me what it meant to have a personal relationship with the Lord. I desired to do that for other girls! The Lord gave me a burden for students —just like I was—who needed someone to walk with them, share truth with them, and show them how to live it out. At the same time He also gave me a burden for the world!
Campus Outreach is a university ministry that seeks to invest in the next generation by building laborers on the campus for the lost world. We focus on evangelism and discipleship, so not just sharing the gospel with them and leaving but continuing to walk with these students as they navigate what it looks like for them to build a personal relationship with the Lord. We desire to glorify God by investing in the future leaders of South Africa to impact the country and the continent of Africa as a whole. Praying that they would take ownership of their faith and the vision.
For the last two years I have been living in Pretoria South Africa ministering to students at the university of Pretoria. I’ve seen firsthand the impact this ministry has had on the students and get excited to dream and pray about what God could do in the next 5, 10, and even 20 years from now. As my two years were coming to an end I felt the Lord impressing on my heart the call to recommit and continue investing in this ministry and these students. I’ve seen the need for laborers there - Matthew 9:36-38 is absolutely true- the harvest is plentiful and the laborers are few. But even more than the need, I’ve seen the potential. I’m a dreamer and I’m believing and praying that South African students could be the ones to take the gospel even farther—maybe even into the northern parts of Africa where it’s even darker spiritually. That’s my prayer: that God would raise up laborers from South Africa and create a pipeline to impact the nations with the gospel.
I believe God is moving on university campuses around the world —and that the next generation of students could make an impact on the Kingdom! I’ve seen firsthand the impact this ministry has had on the students and get excited to dream and pray about how God could continue to move in and through this ministry.
For me to be able to do this work - I need to build a team of people who can partner with me both prayerfully and financially longterm. Right now while I’m at home I am focused on raising support in order to go back and continue serving. I’m currently raising support in order to go back and serve on the team. I’m committed to be there for at least the next 4 years. I’m currently in the process of rising $2,000 in monthly support and an $11,000 one time gift.
What I really need is people who are going to partner with me longterm. So I would love the opportunity to meet with you and explain more of the impact you could make by partnering longterm. I’m desiring to connect with people who believe in the power of the gospel and want to see lives changed for eternity that would be encouraged to partner with me in seeing more students impacted by the gospel! When I meet with people to talk about South Africa and invite them to invest in what God is doing through this ministry - I desire to build a relationship with them! My hope is to build relationships with people who want to lock arms in prayer, encouragement, and vision. Prayer Requests:
Pray that the Lord would provide the remaining support by September so that I can launch in October! (1 Chronicles 29: 14-16, Philippians 4:19, 2 Corinthians 9:8)
Pray that the Lord would continue to open doors for opportunities to cast vision and invite more people to partner with us to advance the gospel in South Africa!
Pray that I would continue pushing to be faithful in the slow! For endurance and excitement about this season of support raising, that I would faithfully work and be diligent to do what needs to be done! (Romans 12:11, Proverbs 6, 1 Corinthians 10:31)
Pray for wisdom for what faithfulness looks like in this season and that I would develop a deeper trust in God's provision and timing! (Psalm 27:14, Psalm 37:4-5, Micah 7:7, Psalm 130:5-6, Psalm 62:5)
Pray that I would see this season of support raising as an opportunity to deeply trust in the Lord for His provision and that I would rely on His sovereignty! Not just trying to get done, but pausing to see what God is doing (Psalm 27:14, Psalm 37:4-5, Micah 7:7, Psalm 130:5-6, Psalm 62:5)
