Eileen and I began with TeachBeyond (Janz Team) in 1988 in Brazil, serving at our Bible College. We moved to Germany in 1998 serving with Black Forest and our international mission work. Aas Executive Vice President, Regions, I lead and work closely with our Regional Vice Presidents and Directors of our Global Regions reaching displaced and other marginalized persons through education. We have a heart to reach all to whom God leads us through formal and informal education, with a special burden for those in difficult circumstances. This includes those in creative access areas.
In the early morning hours of September 14, 2003, Jesus appeared to me in a dream. He held in His hands a treasure for me of immeasurable worth: the souls of all the children of the world who do not have access to an education. When I (astonished and overwhelmed) asked what I was to do with this He said: "Give them an education. Give them English. Give them Jesus." When I asked how I would ever be able to do this He answered: "You will get the help you need." The transformation of our own organization and networking with partners bears witness to Jesus' call and promise embedded in this Dream. Perhaps someone reading this is also part of "the help"!
As part of our global leadership team, I help shape who we are and how we reach the lost and disciple Jesus followers. TeachBeyond reaches thousands of children and families in over 80 countries around the world, providing an education that truly transforms. Hundreds of missionary families around the world are able to continue serving because of our schools, and many are reached directly. Our camp ministries and other non-formal education programs are effective outreaches in partnerships with local churches and other Christian groups. We work closely with our colleagues and partners in their local contexts, serving with them as they reach out.
