John Fruhmann

Pioneers

My name is John and I feel God calling me to serve as a missionary in Japan. At the time of writing this, I have been living in Japan for over one year. I currently teach English in elementary schools and it has been wonderful. God interjected though as He often does, leading me down the path He set out before me during my time here. In miraculous fashion, I was able to get connected to my organization, Pioneers, through my pastor in the US. He was colleagues with one of the Pioneers mission leaders that lives here in Japan, back in the day in the US together. He connected me with him and we waited to see where I would end up. My English teaching company could have put me anywhere in the country, but thanks be to God I was placed in his same prefecture just a train ride away. Ever since arriving, I have been learning all there is to know about missions, being that I was starting from scratch. I ultimately applied to join and began inquiring of the current team members about their individual journeys. It has been such an eye-opening experience to learn how God is moving here. I have cultivated a heart for the Japanese people to be saved. There is a lot of spiritual darkness festering underneath a seemingly perfect society. They are a honorable and noble people group that are totally ignorant to the goodness of Lord Jesus. It is on my spirit to be able to witness to them and be a part of the great awakening I sense coming on.

I have been thinking about my support raising since applying to Pioneers and I don't have very much to go on as of right now. My sending church is on board with supporting me and praying for me, but they have not sent anyone or been much involved in missions before. I would be the first, which is exciting, but I definitely need to build up more of a network of people. Living overseas on the opposite side from my home country, it will be difficult to have meetings and make appointments to talk with people. My hope is when I move back to support raise, I can start making progress, but the point is I don't exactly have a lot to go on right now. Your partnership with me would be a significant help in getting me to the field. I'm thankful for this platform so that I can reach like minded believers. I want to promote this not as my own personal cause, but as the greater mission of God's great commission to go out and speak the name of Jesus into people's lives.
